Spinning is a low impact indoor cardio activity that replicates outdoor cycling; the bikes that are used are specially designed stationary bikes. Your instructor will guide you through sprints, hill climbs, intervals, descents and circuits a class can be in length 45 to 50 minutes and is set to upbeat music.

Spinning bikes are equipped with a weighted flywheel. The seats and handlebars are adjustable with a tension (resistance) knob below the handlebars which allows you to easily adjust the tension on your bike.

Your spinning workout intensity level is influenced by: cadence or pedal rate and you will adjust the tension of the bike’s flywheel throughout the class; your body position will either be a seated position or a standing position.

Here are some pointers to accomplishing a really great and successful ride.

  1. Cushion the seat.
  2. Stay hydrated.
  3. Bring a towel.
